The Kentucky Colonel Rebounds to grab SDN pole

Steve Francis may not be having a banner year but he put everything together in last night’s double qualifying heat races for the Seventh Annual Silver Dollar Nationals to grab the pole for tonight’s 80-lap, $53,000 to win event. Francis scored a first and a second to earn the most points in qualifying.

Heat race winner last night included: Chad Simpson, Don O’Neal, Francis, Darrell Lanigan, Dennis Erb, Jr. in first round qualifying and then in second round qualifying the heat race winners were; Brian Shirley, Tim McCreadie, Scott Bloomquist, Rodney Sanders and Brandon Sheppard. All but Sheppard are locked into the feature. Sheppard retired from his first heat with radiator issues.

The final night of the Seventh Annual Silver Dollar Nationals plays out tonight with the Lucas Oil Late Model dirt series winner taking home more than $53,000 and the USMTS Modified winner taking home $10,000. Start time is 7:30pm.
