Hello again, Remember Me. Bloomquist makes it Back-to-Back<\/strong><\/p>\n

He\u2019s been called a lot of things, but one thing \u201cDark Sunshine or the Dirt Track Dominator\u201d proved to Dirt Late Model fans once again this past weekend at the Fifth Annual Silver Dollar Nationals is that there may be few if any drivers that have ever been as good as he is at rising to the occasion and winning the big ones.<\/p>\n

He proved that again on Saturday, July 18 at I-80 Speedway when he charged to the front on lap 31 and held off the late race charge of Jimmy Owens to become the first repeat and first back-to-back winner of the Silver Dollar Nationals.<\/p>\n

Bloomquist has certainly taken a liking to the big wide oval at I-80 Speedway and indicated such in his post-race comments.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was little bit concerned about how wet it was early,\u201d commented Bloomquist. \u201cI thought the cushion might end up getting to be real tall to where everybody had to kind of depend on it, but they did a great job with the race track.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a great racetrack \u2013 that\u2019s what I said last year,\u201d continued Bloomquist. \u201cWe really look forward to coming out here. This is getting to be one of my favorite race tracks\u201d<\/p>\n

Bloomquist held off the late charge of Jimmy Owens who was closing and may have made it real interesting if he had not had to get off the gas coming off turn four on lap 74, still he made it interesting on the last lap.<\/p>\n

Jesse Stovall put on a great charge starting 19th<\/sup> and finishing 3rd<\/sup>. Greg Satterlee and Jared Landers rounded out the top five. Tad Pospisil of Norfolk and Kyle Berck of Marquette gave Cornhusker fans things to cheer about. Pospisil the defending I-80 track champion and current point leader qualified for the event on the outside pole while \u201cthe Marquette Missile\u201d made a last lap, last corner pass of fellow Nebraskan Corey Zeitner to win the Belt Bash.<\/p>\n

On the USMTS Modified side, Rodney Sanders continued his domination of I-80 Speedway scoring a sweep of USMTS features for the third year in a row. While Sanders started on the front row in Friday night\u2019s 35 lap USMTS feature and cruised to a win. He started 13th<\/sup> in Saturday night\u2019s 35 lap dance and by lap 15 he was in a very familiar place at the front of the pack.<\/p>\n
