Rock N’ Roll 40 brings MLRA back to I-80 Speedway on August 31

The Lucas Oil Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) returns to I-80 Speedway on Thursday, August 31 for the Rock N’Roll 40. The MLRA typically helps kick off the I-80 racing season with the Spring Meltdown around the first of April, but that event has been rained out the past two years.

Entering the Rock N’ Roll 40, the MLRA’s winningest driver (with 115 MLRA feature wins),Terry Phillips of Springfield, Missouri is back on top of the points. Part of the reason is because Phillips scored a first and a second at the recent King of the Hill at the Junction Motor Speedway and part of the reason is defending series champion Jesse Stovall of Billings, Missouri missed the Saturday show at the Junction because of lingering effects of his July 20 flip at the Silver Dollar Nationals at I-80.

Phillips currently leads the MLRA points with 1,258 with Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas second at 1,212 and Stovall at 1,199. The MLRA feature will pay $3,000 to win and $400 to start.

Also racing at the Rock N’ Roll 40 are unsanctioned B Mods and unsanctioned Stock Cars. Pit gates open at 4pm, Grandstands at 5:30 pm with Racing at 7:15pm. Grandstand Admission is $20 for adults, $5 for juniors (6-12) with Five and under free.

I-80 Speedway is located one block north of Interstate 80 Exit 420, halfway between Omaha and Lincoln. The Physical Address is 13909 – 238th Street, Greenwood, NE. For more information, visit www.i-80speedway.com or call (402)-342-3453. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
